The people at the guesthouse and the restaurant downstairs were all very kind and friendly. The place is close to the dock, and the rooms were clean, though basic and a little dark. We chose it because the woman waiting at the dock was polite and less pushy than the others from nearby guesthouses. We agreed easily on 25000 per person for three people, then waited in her truck for another boat to arrive with more people before setting off. Decent for the price. I couldn’t get the shower water warm, though maybe I was using it wrong.

For only £2.50 each per night, me and my three friends thought it sounded too good to be true. When we got there, the 'room for three' turned out to have a kingsize bed. Still, it was clean and exactly what we needed for a one night stop on the slow boat. Vatsana was lovely, picked us up from the slow boat port, drove us up the hill with all our stuff, and offered to make breakfast and lunch for a fee. Would reccommend!

It’s an okay place for a one night stop, though not nice. Accommodation in Pakbeng isn’t great overall, so I guess this is average. I paid 40000 kip for a private bed, a double bed for one person, with a fan and shared bathroom. The sheets seemed unwashed, the wooden walls were thin, and there were lots of insects on them. I got bitten by mosquitos quite a bit during the night.

The staff were really kind and helpful. Our room was spotless and clean, just right for sleeping before we took the boat to Luang Prabang the next day.
