DaViKa Hotel

The room was quite spacious, and the beds were comfortable. The sheets and bathroom were clean, even though cleanliness in general could be better and the place felt humid. For the price, it wasn’t bad.

The shower in our room was broken, and the rooms themselves weren’t nice. We also found the cleaning very poor. We had paid for a room with a window but were given one without. When we asked to switch, they said “tomorrow”; the next day, we were told the rooms with windows were already booked. The receptionist didn’t try to understand what had happened, and the lack of communication left us really frustrated. No professionalism at all. You can find a better hostel in Vientiane for the same price.

The staff were rude and unhelpful the whole time, and the rooms were extremely unhygienic. We were so uncomfortable that we had no choice but to leave Vientiane two days earlier than planned. A very disappointing stay.

The hotel’s quiet street is right in the center of Vientiane, and I booked a second-floor double room with breakfast for $15. It had a fan and air conditioning, but no window, which I didn’t need. I’d read the reviews after booking on Booking and expected the worst. Instead, the staff were friendly, and they could arrange bus and train tickets. Maybe the reviews are old and things have improved. I’d give it four stars, but since I think it’s very underrated, I’m giving it five.
