S Park Design Hotel

Everything feels so new and modern, almost like the place was built yesterday. The rooms are incredibly clean, the design is amazing, and there’s a lively atmosphere and a skybar. I’ve stayed at dozens of hotels in Laos, including much more expensive ones like the Crown Plaza, and this one genuinely beats them. Breakfast is free, the pool area is immaculate, and there’s an on-site cafe and a well equipped gym. The staff are courteous and helpful, and a shuttle to the town centre is included. It’s hard to find fault at this price. I’ll absolutely stay here again next time.

If zero out of five were an option, I’d choose it. We arrived late in the evening, and the room seemed okay at first. The next day my wife screamed in the toilet when she saw workers at the construction site beside the hotel looking straight in at her. I had to hold the curtain shut by hand until she was done. We told reception, and they said they would cover the window. I waited in the room for over an hour, but nobody came. We gave them another chance, used the lobby toilet, and went out hoping the window would be fixed by the time we got back. Nothing had happened by noon. The pool was dirty and hadn’t been cleaned. The shower had no door, so water sprayed everywhere. When we arrived, reception told us there was a free shuttle bus. It was there that morning, and we asked for a ride at the time they said it would be available, but were told no driver was available, so we couldn’t use it. I don’t know how I could have stayed any longer. Worst accommodation experience.

This is our usual choice whenever we’re in the capital. Prices are fair, and a little better when booked online. It’s one of the best hotels in Vientiane, with a gym, a swimming pool, and a basic breakfast included.

The room was nice, and there’s a free tuktuk ride into town, which is handy since the hotel is quite far from the centre. Breakfast was okay, but for the hotel’s price I expected more.
