The homemade food was amazing. We had breakfast here and dinner one night, and also got our laundry done for a reasonable price. The room was large and comfortable, and it's a short walk to Ella's main road. The road gets dark at night, so bring a torch or use your phone light. There are lots of homestays along the same road. Had a great stay at Mellow Homestay, really recommend it in Ella.
The room was small but nice, and the breakfast was absolutely amazing. The lady owner was welcoming and kind, and having a hairdryer available was convenient. My only suggestion is to keep the room and bathroom well ventilated, since the humidity inside can get quite high.
Best place I stayed in across four months of travel! The room was amazing, with really comfortable beds and pillows, everything working properly, and a beautiful bathroom. The balcony/terrace on the first floor had a great view. My Sri Lankan breakfast was delicious, and changed from day to day. 110% recommended!
The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful from the start, and we felt welcome and comfortable right away. Our laundry was finished within a few hours, and the family arranged several very pleasant tuk-tuk trips for us at fair prices. We also took a cooking class with the owner and loved it. The curries were wonderful, and we'll definitely make them again at home. We stayed a few days with our family at Mellow Homestay in Ella, where restaurants, bars, and a supermarket are only a few minutes away on foot, while the property itself stays quiet. Our apartment was absolutely clean, with very good mosquito nets and mattresses on each bed. There was a lovely view of the greenery from its small terrace, with flowers planted by the owner. We enjoyed fresh, delicious breakfasts there while watching birds and chipmunks. A heartfelt thank you for a warm, authentic, and wonderful stay.
The room was simple and cozy, with comfortable beds, mosquito nets, and everything we needed. We had the top-floor room, the only one on that floor, and it was very clean. Wi-Fi was faster and steadier than we expected for the area. There’s no air conditioning. It was fine most days in the mountains, though the room got warm at night on sunny days, so we needed the windows open. The bathroom was fine too, but the shower pressure was low and might make washing long hair take a while. Our host was probably the kindest, happiest person we’d met during a month in Sri Lanka. She was always smiling and served generous, delicious breakfasts at a fair price. A charming, authentic stay, and we’d gladly come back.
