We stayed here once, and my wife's kindness helped us find a solution. She also cooked the shrimp we'd bought at the seafood market very nicely. The host, whose name was something like Lilit, behaved badly. He wouldn't negotiate, and at one point raised his fists as if he wanted to fight us. When we arrived, they tried to charge extra even though we'd agreed on the price in advance through their agent, and the room wasn't the one we'd agreed on.

The homemade food was delicious, and the caretakers were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were spacious and well kept, and Unawatuna beach is an easy walk away. I'd definitely come back. Thanks, Bird House.

We were a couple staying for 19 nights, and were very happy with our room. The air conditioning worked great, and there was a nice balcony for sitting and watching the world go by. The owners were friendly and helped with whatever we asked. Our room was cleaned whenever we requested it, and breakfast was good. The beach and main restaurant area are a short walk away. Try THE LUCKY TUNA RESTAURANT, great food, especially the fish BBQ, and the drinks have alcohol in them.... Great price and room. I'd stay again if I were in Unawatuna.

We came with our two-year-old daughter, and she was happy here. It's clean and good value, just a five-minute walk from the beach in Unawatuna, though the place is close to the road and there's not much space for children to run around. The family welcomed us with smiles right away and invited us to celebrate with them when the owners changed over. We were treated to authentic Sri Lankan food and hospitality. The new owners are extremely nice and have some great ideas for the place. Thanks for looking after us so well.
