The Merenchi

Hosts Sanjeeva and Asanka were warm and attentive, and made us feel at home. Freshly cooked, organic food was absolutely delicious. The Merenchi by Alexander-Kane sits beside Radisson Blu at Gintota, in a peaceful spot near a clean, quiet beach with hardly anyone around. We were lucky to be its first guests and stayed in the Terrace Suite, with a private terrace looking onto a serene garden on one side and the beach on the other. The rooms are spacious, filled with natural light, and finished to a high standard. At night, we could leave the doors open and fall asleep to the sound of ocean waves. The grand lobby, elegant dining area, cosy couches and indoor pool for guests added to the stay. Galle Fort is 10 minutes away and Unawatuna Beach 15 minutes away. The property felt secure and peaceful, and the terrace would suit private dinners or small parties. Highly recommended for a memorable stay in Galle.

Sanjeeva, the property manager, was a real standout, and the owners were warm and welcoming, treating us like family. The whole staff were polite and eager to help. Merenchi by Alexander Kane has a striking art deco and French look, with bold colors that feel both dramatic and intimate. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and have the essentials, including 24/7 hot water in the beautiful bathrooms. Check-in and departure were smooth, and the indoor pool and sunny terrace were lovely. From the balcony, the ocean views were breathtaking, and the beach was just a short walk away. Our sweet owner Malini even sent Shelton to accompany us. They surprised us with snacks and fruit during a late-night swim and packed thoughtful goodies for our departure. New, cute and impeccably managed, this boutique hotel near Galle Fort is a must-visit. Can't wait to return!

We had a lovely two-night stay at The Merenchi Hotel and would happily come back. The owner and staff made us feel very welcome and took care of everything. The freshly made breakfast showed how much care has gone into the place. It's a brand-new boutique hotel that has just opened, with spacious rooms and high-quality materials throughout. We can definitely recommend booking here.

The rooms were elegant, the bed was really comfortable, and Netflix and YouTube both worked well on the TV. I felt happy and safe here travelling on my own. It’s a peaceful, beautiful gated boutique hotel, and the staff were so kind and friendly. I’ve already told friends and family to stay here.
