Shen Residence

We had an amazing stay here and loved exploring Sigiriya. The staff were great at helping with directions and advice, and made us feel right at home. Shen Residence is perfectly located and equipped for everything we needed. We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner there, and all the food was amazing. Out of five other hotels across Sri Lanka, this was easily our best stay. It was the perfect home base for exploring the region. I highly recommend Shen Residence to anyone traveling to Sigiriya. The conversations and cultural exchange are what I’ll remember most. Hansi shared so much about Sri Lankan culture, and she was just as curious and respectful about my Indigenous culture. I’d love to return the kindness someday and take her to a pow wow if she visits Canada. From the minute I arrived at Shen Residence, Hansi, her brother, and the whole staff treated me with real warmth. Hansi gave so generously of her time, knowledge, and heart. The care here felt much deeper than service, and every smile and chat made my stay special. I’m grateful for the experience and will carry it with me.

The breakfast was a lovely start to the day, with fruit, coffee, toast, eggs, and coconut pancakes. Our room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. Hansi was so sweet, knowledgeable, and helpful, and made the stay feel special. We’ve had the best hospitality of our trip in Sri Lanka here. Such a lovely, welcoming place, and I’d happily recommend it for a few nights in Sigariya.

That coconut iced coffee was delicious, especially in the heat. We also loved spending time in the garden, which is beautiful and clearly well cared for. Everyone on staff was kind, attentive, and friendly from the moment we arrived, so we felt welcome right away. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this place.
