Abundia

We came as a family of four with our one and three-year-olds, booked a single night, and have already extended to three. The owner and his son have been so polite and kind, doing everything they can to make us comfortable. On arrival, the owner moved us to a larger room at no charge and found a baby cot when he saw I was worried about my one-year-old sleeping on a bed. The pool is huge, very clean, and just the right temperature. Breakfast has been fresh and plentiful, and the little ones loved the platters. Dinner has been delicious too, with fresh seafood and homemade curries. The staff work tirelessly day and night and have gone above and beyond for our family. The family-run accommodation and restaurant are very well organized, close to popular restaurants and shops in Unawatuna and to several beaches. We’d recommend it to any kind of traveler. Thanks for having us, Abundia, and keep up the great work.

You can get to the coast in just a few minutes by tuktuk, and this guest house is a lovely base for visiting Unawatuna’s popular beaches without being in the tourist crowds. The rooms are beautifully designed and very comfortable, and the food is excellent. Dinner was served on the terrace right outside our room, and they made us feel special. The owner was very attentive and speaks excellent English, which is particularly appealing as that isn’t so common in Sri Lanka. We only had one night in Unawatuna, and will definitely stay here next time.

There’s a bike rental right across the road, which is handy if you want to rent one. We spent two nights here and felt at home. On arrival, we were given an incredible fresh fruit smoothie. When we asked if dinner was possible, they went straight to the fish market and made us a lovely meal with delicious fresh prawns. The room was clean and the bed was great, five stars all around. If we come back one day, we’ll stay here again.

The pool is just wicked, and the place is on the main road, away from the tourist center. The room was clean and comfy, the family were super nice, and breakfast was huge with plenty of variety. One of the best places I’ve stayed, and I’d definitely come back. Ask the owner, the father, about the special prawns dinner. Thanks for everything!
