The House

For a single night, this worked really well for me. It’s a very basic hostel or bare-bones hotel, and I wasn’t expecting a proper hotel, but the stay still beat my expectations. My top-floor double room had a desk, fan, and two chairs, plus a nice courtyard view from the window. It was clean and simple. The whole floor shared one shower and bathroom, but even with every room occupied I never had to wait. Hot water was great and the Wi-Fi was very fast. Check-in is self-service with no reception. I didn’t use the kitchen. I’d recommend it to anyone who isn’t high maintenance.

The room itself was okay, though the late check-in meant we had to wait outside while it was still being cleaned. There was just one WC, and the bathrooms only had curtains. It wasn’t what we expected.

The noise kept me awake, and quiet hours weren’t observed. There’s no shower door, so there’s no privacy, and without a room door the hallway light also shines in. The showers are disgusting, with a smell that makes you want to puke, and there’s only one toilet on each floor.

Our larger group was split between two rooms. I can only speak about the double room, but it was the worst accommodation I’ve ever had, even compared with a Soviet-era hospital I stayed in on a trip. I strongly advise against it. The room was around 2 by 3 metres, with only a 140x200 bed, so there wasn’t space to open two suitcases. The cheapest Ikea furnishings didn’t help. There was no private bathroom, despite the listing saying there would be one. One wall was a semi-transparent door onto the corridor, and even closed, the thin wall let you talk through it. You could hear people walking past or coughing. The door wouldn’t stay closed unless locked with a key, and without the curtain inside, the corridor would have a view of the entire room. There was no privacy.
