Hotel Vauban

We'd definitely return. The hotel is lovely, clean, and tidy, though a little worn in places, which didn't bother me. The staff were friendly and helpful. I felt unwell on checkout day, and they kindly let me extend my checkout time. I was so grateful. The rooms were very warm, which was lovely with outdoor temperatures between -5 and +1. It's very central, so we could walk to three Christmas markets or take the tram or bus to the other two. Public transport was free too. Breakfast was lovely, served on an individual tray with a croissant, yogurt, ham, bread, jam, coffee, tea, and juices.

My fourth-floor room looked out over the square, which was a lovely view. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom worked perfectly well. I heard some noise in the hallway, but it seemed to come from one especially loud guest rather than the building itself, and I still slept well. I couldn't work out how to turn on the TV, which was my only small gripe. Hotel Vauban is within walking distance of the main visitor attractions, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I had a very positive stay and would choose it again on my next visit to Luxembourg.

Pretty run down, but adequate. I didn't like not being able to choose my own breakfast, though the coffee was great.

Our room on the 4th floor, the top floor, had a wonderful view of Notre-Dame and the market. It was spacious, with a desk, lots of closet space, and great wifi. The bathroom was somewhat dark, and the shower was small. With the market open, food smells came in through the open windows, but closing them kept out the smells and any noise. The front desk staff were very helpful, and they had the most beautiful bell. Breakfast at L'Osteria was included, delicious, and filling. As others have mentioned, this is a very European hotel, so set your expectations accordingly. The location is ideal for exploring.
