Hotel Kenzi Tower

We’ve traveled to Morocco and Casablanca every year to visit family, and expected much better hospitality. This stay was extremely disappointing from beginning to end. The hotel lacked organization, professionalism, food quality, and customer service. The atmosphere felt off throughout, and we won’t return or recommend it. We reached the hotel at 1:30 pm for a 1:00 pm check-in after a six-hour drive from the other side of Morocco. A soccer tour group was staying there, including the Nigerian team, and the lobby was overcrowded and chaotic. Reception was slow, disorganized, and seemed unable to cope. When we asked to check in, the receptionist rudely told us to wait, then said our room wasn’t ready and to come back in an hour. We asked about food, were told there was a diner on level 2, and went for lunch. At 27 Skies Restaurant, the staff kept speaking to us in French as if we were French. My husband answered in Tamazight, and the waiter clearly understood, but continued in French. It felt dismissive and uncomfortable. After lunch we returned to reception, only to be told to wait again. The receptionist called housekeeping while we stood there for another 30 minutes. We finally got into the room at 3:30 pm, which was unacceptable after our long drive. The room had no working power. I called reception five times and nobody came to fix it. Our luggage was missing too. We were told several times that someone would come in 10 minutes, but it took 1.5 hours and three phone calls before the concierge brought our bags. Dinner at the level 2 restaurant was just as frustrating. Service was very slow and inattentive. We asked for water, but the waiter forgot and served other tables. After we finished eating, we waited a long time for the bill while staff brought bills to people still eating and ignored us. The prices at 27 Skies Restaurant were absurd for what we got. Two mains and a salad cost $150 AUD, and the food was average at best. My husband’s steak came with sauce and no sides. My salmon was just one piece of fish on a large plate, also without sides.

We were greeted with refreshing mint tea while waiting for our room assignment. The hotel is very large, and there’s a Sky Bar on the top floor with panoramic city views. Drinks cost more than at other places, but the view and service made them worthwhile. Dinner wasn’t included, so we found a nearby local restaurant with delicious Chicken Tagine.

The rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable, and the hotel is in a convenient location. Assia at reception was kind and professional, and went out of her way to make sure we had a comfortable stay. I’m grateful for the time we spent at this beautiful hotel.

Breakfast was excellent, and Chaimaa and Shiam made the mornings especially welcoming. They were warm, professional, and always smiling. Their care with the details and positive attitude made a real difference. They’re a real asset to the hotel.
