Hotel Splendid

The room smelled of mould, and the hotel was run down and dirty. Bathroom fittings leaked, the shower wouldn’t drain properly, and the air conditioner was extremely noisy and barely worked. The wifi was useless. The staff had terrible attitudes and seemed more interested in standing around smoking and talking than doing their jobs.

Breakfast was a letdown, with just one raw egg and three pieces of bread left for us. The pool had mould at the bottom, which was disgusting. Our air conditioning wasn’t working when we arrived. Once they got it going, it was extremely loud, old, and rusty. They let us switch rooms, but the new one was farther from our family. The shower floor was cracked, and a shower flooded the whole bathroom, leaving everything dirty. Solid one star.

The breakfast was a joke, with boiled eggs, yoghurt, stale bread rolls, and coffee that always ran out. In the room, the air con barely worked, there was no liquid soap or shampoo, no hair dryer, and only one power point, in the bathroom. I had to charge my laptop over the bathroom sink. The shower leaked into the bedroom and all over our suitcase. There was bird poo on the pool lounge chairs. The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Don’t stay here!

The location worked well for us, about an eight-minute taxi ride to the old city center, and reception staff spoke good English. Our price was okay, with breakfast included. The food was good and there was plenty for the table. The room and bathroom were big and clean, but the bathroom could use a renovation.
