Dar Riad Jomana

The room itself was comfortable and a good size for the price, and the Wi-Fi worked fine. The staff member who helped me was friendly and did try to sort out the problems, but there were too many of them for me to recommend this riad. The noisiest part was the alley. Motorbikes went up and down it all night and kept waking me, and breakfast was served less than two meters from my wooden window, so sleeping in wasn't really an option. I also couldn't secure the room at first. We tried both available rooms and neither door would lock, apparently because humidity and temperature had made the doors swell. The staff member said the riad was locked from outside and that he'd stay at the desk, but I still didn't feel comfortable leaving my things behind. I carried my passport, camera, laptop, and other valuables around town with me. He later sanded the door so it would close and lock, which was kind of him, but that should have been dealt with before the room was rented. There was also the payment issue. The listing said credit cards were accepted, but on arrival I was told the machine was broken. I'd like to think it was a one-off problem, though asking for cash when a card machine is supposedly broken is a familiar hotel scam. They had replied promptly to my earlier messages about check-in, then stopped answering when I asked whether they took cards. It left me thinking they knew about the problem and didn't want me cancelling before I arrived. The rooms have potential, but the lack of planning and attention from ownership made the stay stressful.

The people working here were so friendly and helpful, especially with the kids, and breakfast was really good. It's a comfortable place, too, with the main square an easy walk away.

We only stayed one night before setting off on our road trip, and the whole visit was easy. The Dar is right in central Marrakesh, so the sights are all walkable. The receptionist and the woman who cooked for us were lovely, and breakfast was nice. We'd recommend it and hope to come back, Inshallah.

Getting around was easy from this hotel, which is close to the city and within walking distance of most tourist spots. The service stood out: someone collected us from the city, and the receptionist even helped order dinner through the local food delivery app. Breakfast was tasty and very good.
