We found a cockroach walking right through the room, and the sofa was dirty. The window wouldn’t close properly, so the room was noisy and cold at night. In the bathroom, the grout was moldy and the toilet seat was loose. Our towels were wet when we arrived, and it took a long time to get clean ones. There was no hairdryer at first; the one they brought was very old and held together with tape. When we asked for an iron, they said they only provide them at five-star hotels because of fire risks, which made no sense. You also had to buy water with dinner. The cats at reception were lovely, though.

The staff were rude and unprofessional, whether at reception, in housekeeping, or serving breakfast. Breakfast itself was very basic and below standard. The condition of the room was just as bad: a blocked sink, a shower that barely worked, stained sheets that weren’t changed daily, and floors that were never properly cleaned. There was old grime and dust everywhere, and moving furniture exposed layers of dirt. We even found a cockroach on the first day. At the entrance, a water leak was dealt with by putting a rag underneath it. I’ve stayed in hotels across many countries and cities, but this experience really pushed my buttons. The hotel is poorly maintained and unhygienic, and its advertising is misleading.

Three days into our four-day holiday, we’ve had a fantastic time. We’re from the UK and usually stay in Premier Inn type hotels, so I really don’t understand the bad reviews. The staff have looked after us so well, genuinely seemed to care that we enjoyed ourselves, and made us feel welcome when we arrived late. We’re half board and have had three great evening meals. The menu was limited because it’s out of season, but the food was excellent and served at the table. Breakfast has been great too, and I’ve had no hygiene concerns at all. There are lots of shops nearby and plenty of places within walking distance. For a well stocked supermarket, turn right out of the hotel, then right at the crossroads. Our recently refurbished room felt modern, with a TV, aircon, balcony, fridge, and comfortable beds with clean sheets. A kettle would have been useful, but you could buy one cheaply and leave it here. A safe would have been nice too. The bathroom really needs updating, perhaps that’s next on the refurbishment list. This is extraordinary value for money and a great base for exploring Marrakech. We’d stay again if the bathrooms get upgraded!

I stayed for six nights. The hotel is in a very good location, and the restaurant staff were polite and much appreciated. Breakfast was very limited, with the same food each day, and the pool water was very cold. On the first night we had to move rooms because the AC wasn’t working. I’d requested three rooms on the same floor, and by the second day they had arranged that, which was nice. Some things in the rooms and toilets weren’t working and need modernising. Manager Mr Aziz was helpful and professional. He printed my boarding pass and let us stay extra hours before our flights. Overall, it’s a good hotel and I’d come back. They said they’re starting renovations now. Thank you.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and after we complained they did move us to a room that was livable. But we were so shaken and exhausted by then that we just wanted to get through the night, and I wouldn’t have wanted to stay longer than one night. The hotel felt worn out as soon as we stepped inside, clearly in need of maintenance. The room was musty and dusty, the old aircon creaked, and the corridor light outside our room didn’t work, making the place feel eerie. We were shocked to find a toilet seat with a nasty liquid oozing from it and yellow and black stains. I’d suggest visiting after substantial renovations have been done.
