Maipa Boutique Riad Hotel

We loved the place as soon as we stepped inside and met the host, Emanuel. He, his wife and the staff were all welcoming, friendly, helpful and full of useful information. The room was amazing and had everything we needed, and breakfast was great too. The location is superb, just a short walk from the main square. We loved Marrakech and, if we come back, which seems likely, we’d stay here again.

The host, Liliya, gave us very personal service. Breakfast is set out for you at a time you arrange, and the same applies if you want a quiet dinner in, though there are lots of nearby places to eat. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the Riadh. It’s a small, quiet place in the middle of the souks and sights. Since the streets aren’t open to taxis, the Riadh arranges to meet you at the drop-off point about a 10-minute walk away, and someone escorts you and carries your suitcases. I’d use the Riadh-organised taxi both ways for a smooth handover. The rooftop terrace gives you a view over the surrounding buildings, and we had lunch there on arrival after giving some notice. Inside, the windows face the patio, as is typical of a Riadh surrounded by other buildings. The room has lovely Moroccan styling, though the lighting can feel a little dim when you want more light. All part of the Marrakech experience.

Emanuele and Liliya run Riad Maipa with so much grace and care. They made our stay feel personal and really special, and we’d highly recommend them and the riad. The attention to detail shows in the decor, furniture and fixtures, as well as in the amazing breakfast. It’s a tranquil oasis in busy Marrekesh, well placed for visiting the sights. We’ll definitely go back.

The rooftop was a lovely place to relax outdoors, sheltered from the elements, with a small basin to bathe in. Now and then, prayers could be heard from nearby, a reminder of where you are. This small, colorful and charming place gives you a quiet sense of shelter from the busy Medina, and you’re warmly welcomed whenever you return. The Italian couple who own and run it are young and a little formal, but their care, service and attention to quality are hard to match. Breakfast was prepared in minute detail every day, with a little surprise each time.
