The location is good, though the hotel is down narrow lanes behind the main street. Late at night, locals there may pester you for money as you walk back. The room itself was decent, but for the price it lacked basics like bottled drinking water, a kettle with tea or coffee, a dustbin and a bath mat. The staff were unhelpful, though not rude or disrespectful. We also weren’t allowed to park our rented scooter in the hotel’s designated parking without paying a hefty fee, well above the standard rate.

The only decent part of this place was the cleaning staff. They were polite and friendly, and although they only spoke French and Arabic, they were happy to communicate with Google Translate. The rooms were dirty and very dated, with furniture falling apart. I reported the broken toilet seat three days in a row and nothing was fixed. The beds were so hard they felt like the floor. The air conditioning didn’t work, the TV only had basic channels, and the power worked only when someone was in the room, so the fridge kept going hot and cold. There was no kettle or way to make a drink, and nothing available at the hotel except breakfast. Breakfast was the same cold pancakes, crumpet-like things, French stick, muesli, a few pastries and jam for all five days, with an egg available if they cooked one. The coffee was awful, with so much sediment at the bottom it was almost like the river Thames. The “swimming pool” was only open until 6pm, and the rooftop balcony until 7pm. When I asked about it, a man said that was hotel policy. It was hot and still daylight, and our room had only a small window, but he wouldn’t let us sit up there. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I can’t put others through the same experience.

We arrived late on Wednesday and asked reception if anywhere nearby was still serving food. Someone from the hotel personally walked us to a wonderful restaurant. Another staff member later asked about our day in central Marrakech and seemed genuinely interested. The room was spacious, with a balcony and beautifully decorated headboards and ceilings. I also felt that the staff treated my partner and me like family. I really liked staying here and would absolutely come back.

I stayed here for two separate nights on an intrepid tour and was pleasantly surprised, since the reviews had made me a little wary. The traditional decor is lovely, and both rooms were spacious and clean. My allergies started acting up in the first room, possibly because of dust, though I didn’t have that problem in the other one. The second room’s door was tricky to open, close and lock, but I managed. Reception staff were consistently pleasant and helpful, and breakfast had several nice options. The medina is about a ten-minute taxi ride away. The hotel’s own location was fine too, and I walked around late at night without any trouble. I’d stay again for a budget trip.

One receptionist’s conduct was deeply unprofessional and unacceptable. They made arrogant, unfair assumptions about guests without a valid reason, leaving people feeling looked down on or treated differently. Every guest deserves basic respect, whatever their appearance, background or gender. This attitude harms the hotel’s image and management should take it seriously.
