The staff made the stay especially memorable. Mr Jamal was phenomenal, and Fatima was so nice. They were welcoming and attentive throughout. The riad has a calm courtyard and lovely traditional details, from the architecture and tilework to the classic room décor. Our room was comfortable and peaceful, with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, served with care. The location worked well for exploring the medina, and it was a quiet place to return to after a busy day.

Jemel was wonderful, always gentle and ready to help. He came with us to show where to get a stamp, gave us advice about where to go, and helped me a lot when I was feeling sick. The food was extraordinary, especially breakfast. I hope I can come back!

The rooms were basic but perfectly adequate, and the shower was hot and powerful. The welcome was lovely, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. On our first night, when we were completely lost, they booked us a nice restaurant and walked us through the maze of streets until we could find it easily and make our way back.

We tried two rooms, and both were clean and comfortable. Everyone working at Riad Abjaou was so friendly and kind. We enjoyed the breakfast and dinner so much that they were the best we tried in Marocco, even after eating in lots of different places. The lemon chicken tagine is especially worth trying.

The facilities may not be five-star, but the people running the place certainly deserve five stars for their kindness and hospitality. It’s good value, especially with the traditional breakfast spread. The location is just off the busy medina streets, so it feels quieter while still being close enough to walk to all the lovely places.
