Riad Azahar

The staff were friendly, polite, and accommodating, but that couldn't make up for the experience or the extremely poor value for money. We stayed just one night and left frustrated and exhausted. We'd enjoyed some lovely mid-range riads in Marrakech before and hoped to treat ourselves to a higher-end hotel. Noise carried throughout the hotel like an echo chamber. We could hear guests moving around, toilets flushing, and staff going about their work. At different times during the night, groups of men chatted loudly outside our window before riding away on motorbikes, making it a very long night. The room and bathroom seemed too basic for the price. The sheets weren't Egyptian cotton, the pillows were hard and uncomfortable, and the water never got very hot. The shower pressure was weak, so in chilly December I couldn't wash my hair, or even want to. The chairs and couches were rock hard too. I also sat on a chair where a cat had recently urinated, and the hotel had to wash my pants. It may look lovely in photos, but I'd look elsewhere at this price point.

We spent a relaxing stay at the Riad and especially enjoyed sunbathing on the beautiful rooftop. Each morning brought a delicious, light, healthy breakfast, and the staff were kind and attentive.

Riad Azahar was charming, traditional, clean, and quiet, just away from the bustle of the spice market. We spent five nights there and felt like part of the family. We would return in a heartbeat. Owner Roberto is a gem of a host, and you can ask him anything about Marrakech. His staff are first-rate. Simu, sorry if I've misspelt that, and Ismail were courteous and helpful, while the cleaning staff were conscientious and always polite. The riad also has a well-kept secret: on request, though it isn't advertised, they prepared us an evening meal. Five stars to chef Wifu too. Hats off to Roberto and the whole team for a truly memorable stay. Just go and book!

We loved our holiday at Riad Azahar. The staff felt like a little family and helped us with everything we needed. Every morning they served a different and delicious breakfast. The location is great, right in the Medina, so you can walk everywhere. I can definitely recommend this riad.
