El Andalous Lounge & Spa Hotel

The pool area was lovely, and breakfast had a very good range of choices. Some rooms were a little shabby and could do with an update. When our group checked in, there were already people in our rooms! It was a shame we couldn’t add bar purchases to the room tab. The hotel was quite good otherwise.

The biggest letdown was how the front desk handled our early airport departure. We asked ahead whether the included breakfast could be packed to take with us. They said yes and promised to leave it at our door at 4 am. We suggested getting it the night before, around 9pm in a bag, since eating breakfast at 4 am made little sense, but they insisted they’d deliver it then. When the time came, nobody was there and there was no breakfast, so we left without eating. The missing meal itself would have been fine if they had simply said no. We could have bought something beforehand. Instead, we relied on what we were told, and the information wasn’t honest or reliable, probably to brush off the request knowing we couldn’t complain when we saw it hadn’t happened. The location is good and the hotel isn’t bad, but it feels overrated. It may have been luxurious years ago, and you can still see signs of how comfortable it used to be, but it doesn’t seem well maintained now. A lot of things feel hastily repaired and carelessly done, which takes away from the experience. The rooms were comfortable enough.

The reception staff were friendly, and although secure parking is limited, they always try to find a solution. The pool is nice, but the hotel feels old and more like a 3-4 star place than somewhere luxurious. Breakfast had plenty of choices, but the quality was poor and it was very mediocre. Improve that and the rest is secondary. Morocco has a lot of potential.

The pool was the best part: warm, fantastic, and we got in whenever we could. Poolside service was pretty nice too, with some amazing croissants and pastries, and fantastic coffee. A bellman and a front desk person were also very helpful about taxi rates, advising us which taxi to take and when. The rest of our four-night stay was a mess. This is not a 4 star hotel. The concierge service was terrible, rude, and not accommodating. The rooms were broken, dated, and falling apart, with cracked walls, flickering lights, and no sockets beside the beds. The beds were rock hard, and we didn’t get a single proper night of sleep. The bathroom layout was strange, with the toilet far from the sink, and the closet was a monstrosity. The bathrooms weren’t cleaned properly, there was no toilet paper, the amenities were terrible, and the towels smelled of sweat. Breakfast was very average, nothing special, so I’d save the money and eat elsewhere.
