Riad Bab Lakhmiss

We slept well in this quiet area, even though the Riad is close to the souk and the city's main square. It's excellent value for a reasonable price. The room was comfortable, and breakfast on the terrace was very good. The staff were considerate, polite, and helpful. I recommend it.

The inner courtyard is beautiful, and the gentleman on duty overnight spoke nicely to us when we arrived. But after I noticed a stain on the bed and went downstairs to tell him, his attitude changed and he became verbally aggressive. When I pulled back the blanket to go to bed, the sheet had brown stains. I went down hoping to get a clean one, but instead he shouted that we must have made the stain. I hadn't mentioned the other problems, but the room was dirty, the tiles hadn't been washed in either the room or bathroom, and there were ants. I just wanted a clean bed to sleep in. He got very angry at my comment, raised his voice, and acted in a threatening way.

The location was the one downside, and it was a bit hard to find. Still, I highly recommend staying here. The riad looked really nice, the hosts were pretty nice and helped us with everything we needed, and it had the most comfortable bed we'd had in Morocco. The bathroom was one of the nicest we'd seen there too.

Abdoul was one of the nicest people we met, and he really cared about making guests comfortable. Marrakech's people are wonderful. My husband and I stayed at the Riad for four nights, and I highly recommend it. If you're coming in winter, bring warm socks and slippers, or buy some at the bazar. The nights can be cold and damp.
