The location worked really well: just minutes on foot from the main square and Medina, close to the kasbah, and at the edge of the mellah Jewish quarter. The side street is quiet, but a main road with taxis is nearby, along with plenty of shops and restaurants. I felt safe walking around. My room had a comfortable bed, good furnishings, a proper wardrobe, and a large shower. Breakfast was fresh and filling, perfectly adequate, and lovely to eat on the rooftop terrace. I was welcomed with mint tea and got the early check-in I'd requested. There was some confusion about which room I'd booked, but it was resolved satisfactorily. This was a well-maintained Riad with welcoming staff and good rooms. I suspect some lower reviews may come from the difficulties hotels can have working with booking agencies. Visitors should also be realistic about where they are and what they're paying. A room without an outside-facing window is normal in a Dar or Riad, as these homes are designed with windows opening onto an internal courtyard or terrace. If that's not for you, there are many hotels in Guéliz. Likewise, a more lavish breakfast and luxury stay are available at another riad for twice the price, so it's worth doing your research.

The terrace has a lovely view, and everything was easy to reach from this well-placed hotel. Our rooms were cozy and clean, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and kind. They helped us with our boarding passes at the last minute, which saved us. I'd recommend staying here if you want a nice time.

The food had wonderful Moroccan flavor, and the chef / cook was very talented. This is a lovely small Riad in a great spot near the markets and other places of interest. Everyone on staff was sociable and very helpful.

The showers were disgusting: the water wouldn't drain, and other unpleasant things came up. We tried several rooms, but they were all just as bad. The rooms were awful across the board. The owner was unfriendly, arrogant, and careless, with an attitude that seemed to be, "Who cares, they already paid anyways." We paid for nine days but left after five. Another family in the opposite room did the same. This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. I strongly recommend booking a different Riad, where you can get much better rooms for a lot less money.
