Riad Dar Ihssane

A little hard to find in the Medina maze, but worth the effort. The staff were friendly, and there are lovely places to relax, including a gorgeous sitting room and a rooftop terrace for summer. My room was one of the most beautiful I've stayed in, with solid marble walls.

The riad was spotless and clearly very well cared for, a dream of a place. Ahmed the butler was so helpful and looked after us wonderfully. Zara is a fantastic cook, and her tagine was the best I tasted in Morocco. It's in a great spot in the Medina, close to El Fna and the markets.

The bathroom and sleeping area weren't separated, so in our four-bed room you could hear almost everything. That was the one thing I didn't like. The room was very clean, though, and the staff were always smiling and helpful. They gave us Moroccan tea for free in the afternoon as well as breakfast, and we could really feel the Moroccan hospitality. It's only a short walk to djemaa el fna square. Aside from the lack of privacy, I'd recommend this great riad to anyone.

A clean, good-value place right in the center of the Medina, and everyone was very polite. The only thing I wasn't keen on was the lack of a bathroom door, but it wasn't a big deal.
