We stayed four nights, though we had originally planned for seven. The riad was fine for sleeping, but the area outside made us uneasy enough that we decided to move to a hotel. We nearly left on the first day. The location is handy for being close to everything, and InDrive worked for getting around. The riad itself is nice, breakfast was okay, and you can ask for more if you do so politely. The staff apart from the person who took our payment were friendly and helpful. That person seemed drunk when we arrived. He was fine afterward, but it was a poor first impression. I was glad I speak French, since most staff spoke the local language and some French, but nobody spoke English when we arrived. Outside, there were lots of scammers around. We parked near the riad and several different people approached us asking for parking fees. Reception were kind and tried to help, but it didn’t put a stop to it. We paid 20 dirhams to settle things, while they kept asking for 100 to 200, which made us uncomfortable. There were no problems with missing belongings. They tidied the room and made the bed, but towels and sheets weren’t changed unless we asked. Room service was provided whether we requested it or not.

We left after one night, following an argument with the manager over how rude he was. When we raised our concerns, he tried to bribe us with money and even shouted at my friend. Outside, men kept catcalling us, which made the stay even more disgusting. The place was dirty throughout: mould in the bathroom, stains on the beds, no safe, and no duvet. We asked several times for one and never got it. Even the sugar cube I had in the morning made me gag. I don’t know how sugar can taste bad. I’ve been to Morocco several times, but never stayed in a hotel/riyadh this dirty.

We had a lovely two-night stay. There’s nearby open parking, it’s about 20 minutes from El Fna, and there are plenty of good hidden gems in the area. The service and help were exceptional, and they were flexible about breakfast, which was included, and dinner, which wasn’t. Email communication was easy. We hoped to stay again on our last day, but unfortunately our car had problems. We couldn’t reach the hotel because of personal email issues. Pierre de Kerautem was understanding and refunded us for the night anyway. Thank you for everything. We had a beautiful stay and would definitely recommend it.

Everything was very well organized, and we had a great stay. The staff treated us like part of the family instead of just guests.

The rooms were spacious and pretty for the affordable price, and we’d definitely stay again. Dar is an elegant riad in central Marrakech, with a lovely, well-kept courtyard. The owner and staff were so welcoming, friendly, and helpful.
