Riad Heklek- Ouarzazate

The riad was a lovely escape from Marrakech's busy streets. The owners were kind and very accommodating, and Mohammed helped us with lots of things during our stay. Every detail in the decor feels carefully considered, with everything clearly sourced locally, and the design is beautiful. Breakfast was great each morning. My favorite small detail was the family of birds living in the courtyard, lovely to hear while eating. Such an incredible place, I can't recommend it highly enough.

The breakfast was generous, and Patrice and Stephanie were welcoming and really helpful. The riad was lovely, and they'd done a great job renovating it. The photos here show a pool, though I'm not sure it belongs to this riad.

The one thing that really disappointed us was not getting a key to our room. We were told there was no way to get one, which was frustrating. Otherwise, staff were kind and welcomed us with tea and pastry. Breakfast starts at 7.30, or earlier if requested. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable though not king size, and each room has a name instead of a number, which is a nice touch. The bathroom is spacious and has a good hot shower. A taxi can get you here easily.

Mouna at reception made a big difference to our holiday. She was kind, explained everything, and speaks French, English, and Italian. She's a very lovely and interesting person. My sister and I had a small double room with two separate beds, but it was clean and well furnished. From the riad we could walk to everything: 2 minutes to the Tombe Sa'diane, 5 minutes to the Palais de la Bahia, and 10 minutes to the main square Jemaa El-Fna. If I return to Marrakech, I'll stay here again.
