Riad Laurence Olivier

Mohammed made getting around town much easier, hailing taxis and negotiating sensible fares. Drivers often quoted us 100 dirhams, while with his help trips were usually 60-70, and we took at least one each day. He and Ali, along with the staff working behind the scenes, made the holiday smoother, and we hope they hear how much we appreciated them. We also had dinner at the riad one evening, our favourite meal of the trip, like something cooked at home. The Laurence Olivier Riad is peaceful and convenient for walks to the main square. On arrival, Ali welcomed us with mint tea, explained how the riad worked, and showed us where things were. We saw him daily, and he’s a real credit to the place. We’ll definitely return and recommend staying here.

We paid in full and arrived around 8 pm on 16 Jan 26, after wandering through dark, unsafe alleyways trying to find the Riad. Once we got there, they told us they were overbooked, leaving my 70-year-old mother and me to find somewhere else to stay. The travel company blames Riad Laurence Olivier, and Laurence Oliver blames the travel company. Mum and I are the ones who suffered. I’d booked this as a special trip, and now I can’t leave the country until Monday. They took the money and left us in a terrible position, with more costs and no refund. I won’t comment on the rooms because we never got what we paid for. The service was very poor and made us feel unsafe. I’ll take this further with Love Holidays, which has already been even worse than useless about the Riad and everything else. This whole booking feels like a con to get money. I’d suggest choosing a larger hotel that knows whether it has rooms, or not visiting Morocco at all. I’ve never experienced anything like this.

I booked in mid-July 2025 for 7-14 February 2026 and the booking was confirmed and paid. At the end of January 2026, less than two weeks before the trip, they said the Suite Matisse and YSL Suites were no longer available and refused the booking. The travel agency couldn’t find acceptable alternatives and eventually refunded the trip. Be careful with this Riad: they cancel close to arrival, possibly because someone else is willing to pay more, and they don’t communicate.

The rooftop was a great place to watch the sunset, and the medina was easy to explore on foot. The main road is only about 500 m away, which was handy for taxis and airport trips. Mohammed and the team were so helpful, and they arranged an earlier breakfast for the mornings we had trips booked. Breakfast was lovely each day, and Mohammed helped us book those outings too. We had a beautiful stay.
