Riad Le Perroquet Bleu

I wouldn't stay here again. The location is inconvenient, at least a 15-20 minute walk from the Medina, and having to leave my keys every time I went out felt extremely strange. The bathroom was disappointing too. The tub drained slowly and was dirty, so water gathered around my feet in the shower. The shower hook was broken, and the water was only lukewarm with weak pressure. In the room, the paint was chipping and the AC was basically two exposed pipes in the ceiling, as pictured. For the price, the room didn't feel worth it.

The rooms were cold, very simple for the price, and had no carpets, yet they didn't provide slippers. The blue parrot they talk about never appeared during our three days there, so what were we really paying for? Breakfast had no menu. You had to ask, and the answer was just “ftoor beldi,” or traditional breakfast: eggs, msemen, baghrir, harcha, a really tiny bit of butter, cheese, strawberry jam, and, depending on their preference, honey or oil. There was orange juice, which arrived warm twice, and Moroccan tea. They don't serve khli3, the dried meat that's a signature traditional Marrakech dish. As a traditional Moroccan from Morocco myself, I don't consider that a real Moroccan breakfast. The manager could be aggressive at times and answered my very sweet, patient grandmother sharply. I found it disrespectful that she wouldn't accept criticism from visitors. They call themselves a traditional Moroccan hostel, but sell alcohol to guests. I know alcohol isn't illegal here, but that doesn't feel like traditional Moroccan hospitality. And this place is far from Marrakesh. If you want to go into the city every day, I wouldn't recommend it: depending on where you're headed, it's about a 40-minute drive each way.

Good service and a nice Riad. Breakfast was good, and the information service was especially nice. It's a 15-minute walk to the souks. The swimming pool is small, so don't choose this place for the pool.

Omar and the team were always ready to help, and everyone was so kind to us. We loved the peaceful, gorgeous courtyard and the lovely rooms. We even had a tanning session on the roof terrace. The location worked perfectly for us, about a 15-minute walk from the main square. We were delighted from the moment we came through the main doors, and we'll definitely be back soon.
