You can’t drive right up to the hotel, so you’ll need a carriage driver to help with your luggage or carry it yourself. We had trouble getting the drivers to show up on time, but the staff stepped in to help. The building is gorgeous: beautiful tiles, heavy doors, big lanterns, and room windows that look into the hallways. I could go on about it. The staff were top notch, friendly, and gave us good ideas for things to do around town. They booked us a great Hamam and recommended an amazing Henna Cafe. Breakfast started a little slowly, but worked well, and the lovely breakfast staff served very good food. We also had a really nice chat with one of the staff on our last evening. I’d recommend sitting by your room window during a quiet part of the day to enjoy the atmosphere, or relaxing in the pool to get away from the Moroccan heat for a bit. It was a great experience.

We shared a beautiful New Year’s stay here with a sweet group of friends, and made memories we’ll cherish for a lifetime. It’s worth thinking about what kind of stay you want. If you’re after calm and quiet, high standards, and a Western hotel vibe, I’d recommend Sofitel. This Riad is for a different experience, with minimal Western influence and a chance to immerse yourself in Moroccan culture. It’s in the heart of the city, surrounded by raw architecture and old streets, with motorbikes passing every few seconds. The main square is steps away, full of life, noise, snakes, monkeys, and street food. I’m not saying everything about the Riad is perfect, but it honestly offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If that’s what you’re looking for, nothing else will overshadow it.

The shared areas are beautiful, and it’s an easy walk to lots of fun places and restaurants. Our room, #13, wasn’t big but it was clean. Breakfast was delicious, and the ladies were very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.

After staying in five different riads, this was the least appealing one for me. The building may be very historical, but it isn’t maintained very well. The room photos on booking didn’t match what we got, and there was no bath. Our room was dark, and the one-person bed was very narrow. We weren’t welcomed with tea, and the breakfast buffet was a joke: cold tea and pastries that weren’t fresh. Not recommended.

The location is great, right beside the Jemaa El Fna, and the place itself is beautiful. Soukania, Majed, and the rest of the staff were absolutely wonderful. As a woman traveling alone, I felt safe and secure even before leaving the USA, and all the way through my arrival at the Riad. They made sure the airport transport went smoothly, booked spa and dinner reservations, offered recommendations, and went out of their way to see that I had what I needed. They all knew my name! Highly recommended. The staff are very kind, helpful, and respectful, and made sure I was comfortable.
