Retro Moldova Hostel

I loved the hostel's rustic feel, and the showers were really hot. The coffee was great and the wifi connection was fantastic too. What stood out most was the staff. Everyone, from check-in through check-out, wanted to make the stay as good as possible, even helping me find a restaurant that suited me and making sure my trip to Transnistria went well.

I was here for almost two weeks to visit my son, who lives nearby, and the friendly, helpful staff made the stay especially enjoyable. Viorica, Christina, Andrew, Olga, Anna and Sasha, thanks so much. I'll see you on my next trip to Chisinau :) The hostel is central and very affordable, with 24-hour reception, strong wifi, two bathrooms, comfortable beds and a great shower. Breakfast was tasty and free too.

It's a basic hostel with what you need, though there's only one bathroom. The staff 'forgot' the deposit I paid for my locker key and wouldn't refund it. I've stayed in better places.

I've been here a few times, but only when I had no other choice. It doesn't feel very comfortable, and some of the guests who stay for a long time come across as a little creepy. Given the option, I prefer their other property, Funky Mămăligă, over Retro.
