Hotel Istanbul

The room didn't match what I'd expected from the listing, and the lack of quiet made the stay miserable. The air conditioner was very loud and couldn't be switched off because the room got unbearably cold. There was also constant noise from the bathroom. Cleanliness was unacceptable: stained sheets, a very dirty fridge, and a broken bathroom faucet. There wasn't a wardrobe either.

We were asked for 50 euros when we arrived, even though Booking listed the family room at 30 euros. The receptionist said the online price “was not valid” and was extremely rude and unprofessional, so we left straight away. Between the pricing and the attitude, I can't recommend this place. Skopje has much better, more welcoming options.

The location is great, near East Gate Mall and the Old bazaar, and the staff were kind and friendly. Cleanliness was okay, but the room was really poor. There was just a bed, no wardrobe or hangers, and nowhere to put my clothes, so my baggage stayed on the floor. No carpet, slippers, or shower equipment either. The tiny summer blanket and single pillow were both very poor. I paid 14 euro a night at a discount, which was fair for those conditions, but I wouldn't say it's worth more.
