Smart Hotel

The view from the rooftop dining room is spectacular, and the front desk staff were helpful and nice. Getting up there means taking a dark, dank hallway and stairs with disgusting carpet that's stained and worn through. The hotel needs a major renovation. It calls itself four-star, but by Western standards it's one-star, or two by developing-country standards. The guest room doors also have to be slammed loudly to close, which is inexcusable.

We stayed five nights and found the price very competitive for what was included. There are little shops, restaurants, and a night food market nearby. The staff are really friendly, and they even taught me how to tie a longyi. 🤣 The rooms were clean and had hot water. Breakfast was a generous buffet with hot food, and the dishes changed daily. From the sixth-floor restaurant there's a fair sunset view, with a free soft cocktail to enjoy. Bikes are free too, and they can arrange tuk-tuk trips or bus transport at a fair price. For a suburban tuk-tuk trip, ask Fatty, he's a very funny and warm man. We'd definitely recommend staying here.

It's in a great part of town, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms and amenities are basic, but clean and dependable. Hot water may not always be available. For the price, I'd stay here again.

For about $25, you get a nice, clean room and breakfast, and the staff provide very pleasing service. There's also a luxury room option and a rooftop bar. I'd rate it four stars.
