Modern Mongol Hostel

We were eight people and had negotiated a rate of 10USD without breakfast, since that option wasn't available. The next day they asked for the normal 15USD instead. We went across the street to Vision Tours, where we stayed for 8USD with breakfast included. They seemed happier to leave the hostel empty than reduce the price a little to meet the market. The hostel itself was modern and cosy, with warm showers and toilet paper.

The convenient location might work if your standards are low. My private room was shabby and overpriced, with half the lights either out or not working. In the shared bathrooms, the plumbing was broken, and there was no toilet paper for 3 days, or for 4 days in one of the two stalls. They don't supply soap in the showers.

The location was good, but amenities were poor: half the WC and a quarter of the showers were out of order. The heating didn't work, and we got just one blanket for two beds. Staff were absent too, with nobody at reception during opening hours.

Right in the city centre, and cheap. It had what I needed: quiet, a locker of my own, and a hot, clean shower. I'd stay again.
