Regency Art Hotel Macau

The bed was my one real complaint. The mattress felt hard, but after I mentioned it, they gave me extra pillows and a thick topper, which made it much more comfortable. The staff were very friendly and attentive. My room was clean when I arrived and still is. I didn't see or smell mold, and there were no cockroaches, despite those reviews. It's a vintage room, with old furniture and amenities, but everything was usable and well maintained. It even has heating, which is rare in China. There's a bus stop right outside that connects to most of Macau. Nearby are a little hill with hiking trails, a few viewpoints, Nova Mall, and Taipa Central park. Zam Zam restaurant's Middle Eastern food is really good. The gym is old but has what you need for a workout. I loved the sauna, jacuzzi, and steam room in the spa. The pool area seems like it'd be great in summer; for now, I could only enjoy the gardens. Great location, and I'd definitely come back.

We waited in the lobby for three hours because we arrived early. Ten minutes before check-in, we asked the concierge and were told to come back at exactly 2 pm. The staff were so unfriendly and slow, and they seemed miserable. The room was a 7/10.

The staff were extremely nice and caring when I complained, and I liked the sauna and spa. The pool was decent, though there was no outdoor hot tub. The hotel has a lot of potential, but it's very old and needs a complete renovation, down to the concrete. The main issue is mold and air quality. I was shown 10 other room options on several floors, but I believe 98% of the hotel has mold problems, and every room has been ruined by it. Scent machines were running everywhere, all day and night, to cover the smell. My throat started closing up and I struggled to breathe. I got sick, and I'm not exaggerating. Mold is no joke. Don't stay here, even if it's free.

The rooms are dated, but they're clearly kept clean and maintained. Service was fine. You can walk to Nova mall, and buses make it accessible.
