Hotel Barra de Navidad

The pool was just the right temperature, and our room was spotless. There are local restaurants a short walk away. We loved the place and will definitely return.

The pool is huge, and guests can use it no matter which room they're in. It's near the ocean, with the lobby and front deck close by, and the sunset every night was a treat. The staff and front desk were accommodating, and everything was clean with no bugs. For swimming in the ocean, I'd head either right or left to find a spot where the waves aren't crashing down on you. For me, this was unquestionably the right choice, at half the price of the Grand across the bay and with better chances to shop and meet people. The service is great.

The rooms were very clean, but that was the only real bright spot for us. They felt damp and bare, with no shampoo, coffee maker, or refrigerator. You have to walk down the hall to refill your own water jug, and there was just one bath towel per person. The shower and toilet share a tiny room. Surf noise is so loud it shakes the hotel and made sleeping difficult. The website photos made the place look cheerful and bright, which wasn't what we found. We wouldn't stay again.

You can even catch the sunset from reception, and the photo isn't a painting. It's a lovely hotel right on the beach, with friendly staff and clean, pleasant surroundings. I'd happily come back anytime.
