The snorkeling right off the dock was fantastic. We saw barracudas, sting rays, puffer fish and even star fish among tons of fish species. There are day beds and pool furniture over the water near the dock. The buffet for breakfast and lunch is at the front of the resort, and the bar opens at 11am, so cocktails like mimosas aren't available before then. Our favorite excursion was the boat trip to El Cielo. It's beyond amazing, but the trip is long, and sunscreen, even reef safe, is NOT permitted. Bring a swim shirt or swimmable long sleeve gaitor and shorts for all that time in the sun and water. Lunch, water, soda, and cervezas are provided. The tuna sandwiches and ceviche were delicious, 10/10. We also did the buggy tour, which lasted 4 hours and included a beach visit and a drive across nearly the whole island. The tequila tasting factory is the first stop, and it's quite the ride. Lucio coordinated our excursions each day after a quick, efficient check-in. We were first greeted at the top of the stairs at Fiesta Americana, just off the street on the left of the ocean, then directed past its pool and coffee shop, down stairs and across a green bridge over shallow water to The Explorean. It has an adorable jungle setting. Our upstairs room had 1 king bed and was near the magical jungle pool, with iguanas in the trees and lush plants around the deck and day beds. At night, lights in the foliage make a beautiful entrance and a lovely place to hang out for dinner at Lool Kan, the only restaurant that doesn't require reservations. Its surf and turf with Ribeye was a special, and the daily dinner offer included Salmon with rice and black bean puree. Service there was exemplary. Gabriel remembered us over our 6 day visit and made it special. Please tip your server 20%, since meals at Fiesta Americana and Explorean are included with your stay. We liked dinner at El Mexicano and Rosato too. Those require reservations the day before, which any concierge staff member can arrange. The whole experience was more than we could have asked for. I loved it all and can't wait to return. Thank you, Explorean, you set the bar.

The excursions were what made this trip especially worthwhile. Jassiel, Ariel, Ricardo, Armando and Daniel were helpful and knowledgeable, and made everything so much fun. Dayanara, our concierge, answered our questions and shared great ideas for places to explore. She also got our trip off to a wonderful start at check-in. We loved the little touches during our 1 week stay at the explorean Cozumel, including quiet morning coffee, juice and banana bread delivered in a charming picnic basket. The team was always friendly and treated us like familia. We had trouble choosing favorites from all the delicious food, but the mochas at coffee corner and tostada Cozumel at the cevicheria stood out. Angel was a great server. The cleaning staff were phenomenal and kept every inch exceptionally clean. Our one wish was for a screen door so we could leave our room door open without letting bugs in. We had a splendid time, especially for our first all inclusive trip together, and it exceeded our expectations. You won't regret booking here :)

The ocean access and snorkeling were the best parts for us. From the dock, a chair and bed suspended over the water made it easy to get in, and the snorkeling there was really good. The main road between Explorean Cozumel and the beach club was easy to cross and not very busy. We made full use of access to Fiesta Americana, with its ample chairs and beach beds. The resort itself is beautiful and well located. We visited February 14-21. We only took the snorkeling excursion. High winds meant we couldn't go to el cielo, so the crew took us elsewhere. We saw a sunken ship, lots of scuba divers, a sea turtle, a sting ray and a spotted eagle ray. The boat crew and snorkel guides were great, pointed out the sea life, and kept everyone safe and happy. There was beer and pop on board, plus lunch on the beach. The boat had washrooms, which we'd wondered about beforehand. We heard good things about the other excursions too, and see them as a real perk. Food was pretty good. Lool K’aan at the Explorean was consistently really good, though the supper menu was limited. Gabriel was such a charming, professional waiter that we kept coming back. Try the eggs motuleños at breakfast and salmon for supper. The snack shack and cevicheria were also good for lunch. Have the whole fried fish or any of the ceviches. They had delicious empanadas by the pool one day. Drinks were good, with top shelf liquor, and the Mezcalitas at the beach bar were delicious. Our room was nice, with a comfortable bed and Mexican made soaps that smelled lovely. A few things were less pleasant. The room was clean but damp, and when we got home we found our clothes, suitcases and other cloth items smelled musty. The shower could take up to 5 minutes to get warm. The supper à la carts other than Lool K’aan were overly bright, slow, and only okay for food. The Italian place's pizza diavola was particularly bad, just a pepperoni pizza that would disappoint even from a school cafeteria. Even so, we'd absolutely return if we could swing it. The good outweighs the bad by a lot, and the ocean and snorkeling alone are worth a visit.

We especially enjoyed the jungle setting from the patio at the Explorean. Staff were excellent, there was a plentiful selection of enjoyable food, and the excursions were fun. We had a great time in Cozumel and are looking forward to another trip back.

The grounds are beautiful, and service was excellent. Drinks were great too, especially the tasty mocktails. If you drink lightly, be sure to ask for very little alcohol, since someone in my party didn't and said their drink was super strong. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. We tried the paiaya, the buffet, the 7 seafood restaurant and the Italian, rating them 8 and 6 respectively. The room looked great when we arrived and the beds were comfortable, but it could've been cleaner and a little more updated. It's a good fit for well traveled guests who won't spend much time inside, or who'll relax on the balcony. The hallways to the rooms are creepy 😳.
