There’s a lot to like and a lot that didn’t work for us. The rooms have plenty of space, with a full fridge and freezer, microwave, large table and chairs, king bed, and futon sofa. You look out over the beach, and there’s a nice rooftop pool with a bar, and maybe a restaurant, though I’m not sure. The rooms are clean and built for hard use, almost as if they expect spring break crowds. The beach gets busy because it’s a popular surf spot. Getting to it takes a hike down from the hotel, which is terraced up a hill, followed by a short walk. Parking is on a very public road, and you have to carry your luggage up, though the hotel will bring it if you ask. The road to the hotel is a terrible dirt road. Other hotels here are on dirt roads too and should be fine when it isn’t raining, but this one was long and in worse shape than the others we drove. We’re looking for somewhere quieter right on the beach, so we won’t return.

The room was clean but very bare, with just two beds and two towels. Breakfast was small but tasty, and the location was great, only a few steps from the beach. If you don’t surf and want to swim, be careful: the currents are strong, and they advise against going in past waist depth. I was very upset to find that when I paid with my Capital One Venture card, the charge showed up as a bar. Capital One wouldn’t change it, and I lost a lot of money.

We were looking for somewhere peaceful and remote, without much luxury, and this was just right for that kind of vacation. If you’re after more luxury, I’d suggest Cabo rather than Cerritos. The rooms are well equipped with the things you need, and the surfing area is very close. We loved the infinity pool and the drinks, and the staff were very kind, offering fruit and eggs for breakfast. This is a great place to disconnect, try something new, and enjoy a vacation.

It’s a smaller place, so after a day or two you get to know everyone. The beach was a blast even though we don’t surf, and our room was clean and comfortable. Abraham and Francisco were awesome, the food was great, and the service was excellent. We’d definitely come back, hopefully soon.

It was cold and rainy while we were there, and Obe and Fernando made sure we stayed warm by bringing us a Mexican blanket. They were so helpful and made us feel comfortable. The customer service and hospitality were amazing. Thanks so much for taking care of us during our stay.
