We stayed at The Gala Hotel for four nights in early November 2025, just after Dia De Los Muertos, and had an excellent stay. The hotel was super clean, the staff were welcoming and attentive, and Leticia at the front desk was especially helpful. Our first-floor room had wonderfully soft sheets, a comforter and mattress, plus a giant tub, rainfall shower, and newer TV with streaming options including Prime and Netflix. The pool was small, but lovely and heated. The only real drawback was the somewhat thin door, which let lobby noise into the room. The lobby was rarely busy during our weekday visit, so we got used to it, but I can't say how loud it might be at a busier time. I get up before the hotel's coffee is available around 7 a.m., so I'd walk two blocks to Membrillo, a cafe serving coffee and food 24 hours a day. It's also within a ten-minute walk of the many cafes, trendy restaurants, and nightlife on Avenida Chapultepec Sur. The hotel is in the heart of Colonia Americana, a quiet, walkable neighborhood with big shady trees. It seemed very safe to me: I felt comfortable walking alone in the day and with my husband at night, and neither of us felt any concern about safety. If you're happy to walk, you don't need a vehicle. We didn't try the spa or other treatments, but we would next time, and we'd absolutely return.

The staff were very courteous about my shortcomings in Spanish and even helped me try to speak more than just English. This is a comfortable eight-room hotel in an amazing part of Guadalajara, with a super walkable neighborhood where I felt fine walking at night. I had an awesome time and would definitely stay again and recommend it to others.

I spent seven days at Gala, and the service stayed thoughtful throughout. The staff were friendly and eager to help, the front desk team always had an answer or recommendation, housekeeping refreshed my room daily with clean towels and a nice scent, and the doormen offered tips with a warm smile while adding a sense of security. The hotel was quiet, secure, and well maintained. Set in a historic 1902 building, it has old-world character with modern comfort, and feels like being invited to a rich uncle's house, if you're lucky enough to have one. The architecture is stately but welcoming. There's a charming Café and Tea House connected to the hotel, with breakfast, coffee, cocktails, and delivery to your room or by the pool. The pool felt like a welcome refuge from Guadalajara's warm, humid afternoons. Gala sits in the cultural heart of Colonia Americana, steps from brunch spots, dinner places, cozy cafés, and lively bars. The neighborhood felt safe and vibrant, with locals and travelers walking the tree-lined streets day and night. Thanks to the whole Team Gala for making my stay unforgettable. The hospitality and attention to detail made every moment better, and I'll absolutely be back.

We loved our five nights here and would be happy to stay at Gala Hotel again when we return to Guadalajara. The room was beautiful and had everything we needed, and the service was impeccable. We also enjoyed breakfast at the hotel's nice resort, HERA, almost every day. There are plenty of good cafés and restaurants nearby, and the area is great for a walk and a coffee or a meal. The only challenge had nothing to do with the hotel: there were lots of partygoers around on Friday and Saturday. Our room faced the street and had a beautiful balcony, so we heard everything until it stopped. Even so, this place is worth visiting and enjoying.

It's a beautiful old hotel with lots of charm, in a pleasant area that's easy to walk around. We stayed four nights recently, and our room was clean and comfortable, with high ceilings, air conditioning, and wonderfully soft sheets and pillows. The staff were great too. Highly recommend.
