The location is so good, and I'd be delighted to stay at Hotel Holly again. Martin & Willy were thoughtful and helped however they could, including carrying my luggage. Willy even brought a refrigerator to my room when I needed one. I came back from a wedding at 3 AM one night, and he greeted me with a friendly face and asked how it went. Such a sweet experience.

The staff were fantastic and went out of their way to help. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, so paying extra for the daily breakfast didn't seem necessary. At night, insects and other critters got into my room and went after takeout food I couldn't refrigerate. The neighbors next door were also noisy in the morning. Even so, I'd recommend the place.

The rates are wonderful, and the location is spot on, one block from Paseo Montevideo and a few blocks from good restaurants and bars. The family-run place feels distinctly Yucatecan. Owners and staff are around all the time, polishing, painting, welcoming people, and making guests feel at home. The whole property is kept impeccably. It's not the fanciest hotel in Mérida, and it has a few quirks. A door might stick, and the shower may not have NYCity water pressure, but neither bothered me. I'd recommend it highly, even at twice the price.

The bathroom was dirty and moldy, and the room was so dark you could hardly see it. The area felt run-down, and the streets weren't lit. Noise came through the pool rooms the whole time, with people yelling and screaming throughout the day. The television had no international channels, and nobody helped with our luggage, though they showed us to the room while we carried our things. There was a huge telecom tower about 20 meters away, which made me feel exposed to radiation. At $100, this was nowhere near worth the price. It felt more like a hostel, with charges for practically everything. This is a terrible excuse for a hotel. Those five-star ratings must be from people who never leave their caves. Never again. Stay away.

The staff were extremely attentive and accommodating, and went out of their way to help. The receptionist had already switched on the AC when we arrived. We got a basic king room called durazno, with a smart TV and a small fridge. The hotel is well placed, one block from Paseo Montejo, and there's a cute shop where I bought a beautiful guayabera. They also recommended a car rental company. We heard the rooms by the pool are the best, though they cost a bit more. Highly recommend, and we'll be back.
