Hostal Catedral - Adults Only

The staff were friendly, and the location was perfect. The room was okay, but sometimes the tap water came out green and smelled really bad, and one morning there was no water at all. They have an arrangement with a nearby parking lot that isn't open 24 hours. At first, they said we could use another lot with a voucher from them, but then they changed their mind and we had to pay for parking ourselves.

The free breakfast had melon, sandwiches, cereal, eggs, coffee, and juice. The kitchen was good, and the toilets and showers were excellent with hot water. The hostel was spotlessly clean, cleaner than many hotels I've stayed in. Staff were really nice, polite, and helpful. The front door was always open, and they didn't use wristbands or anything, so I can see how some people might worry that anyone could walk in. Still, reception was constantly staffed, there were large lockers for belongings, and I felt safe the whole time. I'd happily stay here again.

The bathroom was spacious, with big shower cabins, and the location was absolutely central. Breakfast was freshly made, which was good, but most of the dishes weren't clean. The room was small, with very shaky bunk beds, and noise started in the kitchen as early as 5am. It didn't feel like much of a place for travelers, since lots of people seemed to be staying there for work in Merida.

The free breakfast was great, with hot items as well as the usual fruit and yogurt, and the bathrooms were a good size. The place was central, very clean, and quite cheap, but the water pressure was poor. Our room had its own Wi-Fi network, but it was terrible, and the reception Wi-Fi barely reached us. The rooms were small, without windows or much ventilation, which was what I disliked most. The AC only came on at 8pm, so it was really uncomfortable in the daytime.
