Hotel Tierra del Sol

Handy for the ADO if you'd rather walk than deal with taxis. There's a spot to sit outside, meet people, and watch the cats, plus basic supplies for when you're too exhausted to shop. I heard there's a swimming pool, but after two nights I never saw it. The place is cheap and cheerful, though my room wasn't very clean and had mold growing on the walls. I'm also pretty sure I left my phone charger there, but when I came back, they said nobody had seen it.

The location is convenient, close to two major bus terminals and the city centre, and the service was great. There's a pool and a chill area, plus room service. The neighborhood isn't so nice, so keep that in mind. My room was quite spacious, though it mostly had the beds and bathroom. It did have two couches, a tub, and a table, but not much other furniture. There are openings in the wall for a traditional hammock.

We only needed somewhere for a six-hour sleep before catching a 6 in the morning bus, but ended up leaving and spending the night at Ado's terminal, which had wifi, mobile charging stations, and was cleaner overall. The pool, advertised as open 24/7, was locked. We booked after seeing mostly positive reviews and were offered a room for 400$pesos in one building. At check-in, the receptionist asked for 450$ instead. We insisted on the 400$ we'd been quoted, partly because we'd run into this kind of thing often during our week in Mexico, and he moved us to a third building. The queen bed was fine for two, but the bathroom had lots of insects, including ants, spiders, and beetles. When we asked to change rooms, he showed us another that wasn't much better and said we'd have to pay the difference. We refused and tried to put up with it. Then, just as we were going to bed, we found several ants on the sheets and cushions. We left right away and asked for our money back.

A nice, clean, convenient place for the bus terminal and airport, with friendly staff. The rooms actually cost less in person than they had on travel websites before I arrived. I loved the staff!
