Hotel Express Quinta Soledad

The historic part of the hotel is beautiful and deserves careful restoration. The rest of the property should be rebuilt. Our rooms were very basic, depressing, old, tired, and smelled that way. The wifi didn't work in the rooms, and the toilets failed to flush in four of the six rooms we occupied. There was no service between 9pm and 9am, in the rooms or outside, and despite being friendly, the staff were extremely unprofessional. We spent one night in the second half of June, booking six rooms. The price we had been quoted wasn't honored, and they asked us to pay more on arrival. We had also been assured breakfast was included, but were then told it wasn't and was served only after 9am, too late for us. Room service? There was no service at all. Most of the positive reviews seem to be for the restaurant, not the rooms. This is a cheap hostel or shelter, not a hotel, much less a boutique hotel. Online, the same place is advertised as two different hotels with different names at the same address. Both listings are misleading and a complete joke. We left 12 hours after arriving. Paying just a little more could get you much better accommodation nearby.

It's fine for one or two nights, and the best thing about it is the central spot by the plaza in downtown Tlalpan. There was a TV, but no channels, and the WiFi didn't reach our room. And unlike another Google reviewer, yes, there is hot water. It just takes a while to come through the shower. I recommend it.

I'm really disappointed. There was no hot water, and after 9pm nobody would help.

There's a lot of potential here, but they fail miserably to deliver. They need gringo management.
