I agree with Lev Novak’s review. The decor and rooftop lounge are lovely, and having a microwave available is a nice touch. The location is great, but compared with other hotels in Roma, it falls short. It worked for my short time in CDMX, but I wouldn’t return. The bed takes up too much of the room, so this feels like somewhere to sleep, not relax.

We had a spacious, clean room with interesting architecture, and the roof terrace was a lovely spot to read with a cup of coffee. Puerta Roja Roma is also well placed for getting around on foot, with Roma, Condesa, Juarez, and Zona Rosa all within walking distance. There are bars, pubs, and live Cuban music just steps away, so the nightlife is great, though it can get a bit loud. Cafés, restaurants, parks, and public transportation are easy to reach too.

The place itself was beautiful and the location terrific. Looking at the price now, it’s 40% lower than what I paid, and at that rate I’d have given it 5 stars. My booking cost enough that I was bothered by the lack of cleaning and fresh towels, plus the broken hot tub. It depends on what you pay and expect. As a luxury hostel, it was great, but as a hotel it came up short. For a few nights at a good price, it’s a fantastic budget stay. If you’re staying longer than 4 nights or want a true hotel, look elsewhere if your budget allows.

The rooms are great for the price, and the location is perfect. Common areas and rooms are nicely designed, with lots of attention to detail. One small hassle: the patio route to the upstairs rooms isn’t fully covered, so using the stairs on rainy days means getting wet.

The bed was comfortable, but the rest was a mixed experience. There was no hot water, and the jacuzzi doesn’t work, apparently hasn’t for some time. The toilet broke, so I tried calling Andrea, the hotel contact listed for guests, but got no answer. I had to go through Expedia instead, and Sergio replied. I don’t understand why they don’t provide his number if Andrea can’t do her job properly.
