Villa Alfonsina is a lovely, clean house in a good location. Hector and the staff welcomed us warmly and were friendly and professional throughout our three-night stay. They also let us leave our bags there until evening on departure day, which was helpful. The only small issue was the French double bed, which felt a bit small for me at about 1.90 m, though the website had mentioned its size. We'd happily return.

The courtyard is lovely, and the villa sits right across from the museum. We checked in at 3 and were at the Frida Kahlo museum by 3:15 with our ticket. Make sure to book the museum at least two weeks ahead. We stayed one night so we could visit the museum and go to the Cantoral theatre that evening. The whole family hosting us was friendly and welcoming. Our room was nicely equipped, quiet, and secure, with a strong hot shower, which can be hit or miss in Mexico in my experience. There's also a small kitchen where you can get potable water or make coffee. It's a beautiful colonial villa, and I'd absolutely stay again, probably for longer when we return to Coyoacán. If you haven't been, Coyoacán reminds me of Oaxaca for its food, drink, and art. A fabulous place to see on a Mexico City trip.

The owner was so sweet that we felt at home right away. The location felt perfect and very safe, and I was comfortable walking around early in the morning and in the evening. There's no coffee maker in the room, but the small nearby kitchen has one, along with a fridge and microwave. Having a key to the front door meant we could come and go as we pleased, which was a big plus. This is a special place, and we'll recommend it to friends and family. We look forward to coming back.

I loved being able to walk around the neighborhood. It's fun, feels safe, and has all kinds of shops, street food, crafts, and places to dance at night in the park, from casual and tacky spots to upscale ones. The Leon Trotsky House Museum is walkable too. My phone broke while I was in town, so I had to rely on my limited Spanish instead of apps, but it was easy to ask taxis to take me to el Museo Frida Kahlo. The hosts were friendly and accommodating, chatting when I felt like it and giving me space otherwise. They even helped me find change for a $500 bill and printed my Frida Kahlo ticket and boarding passes. Before I arrived, they warned me to buy the museum tickets online in advance. That was above and beyond, and I'll look for a room here next time I'm in CDMX. The place has a cozy, quiet, family feel. Other guests were quiet too, and since it's small, I imagine noisy guests are rare, especially with no kids or pets allowed. The room and shared areas were clean. The kitchen is tiny, but no one else was using the shared fridge, so I had plenty of space. I didn't try the tea or coffee, though there were plenty of dishes. The bed was comfortable, and I appreciated the ceiling fan overnight since there wasn't a window I could leave open. I could leave the door open for a breeze instead. WiFi was good enough for light gaming on my laptop. Shower pressure was just okay, but enough to rinse soap out of my medium-thick hair.

Hector and his parents were kind and professional, and they let me leave my things there while I waited for my flight, which I really appreciated. The colonial-style house is right across from the Frida Kahlo museum and has a nice terrace. The price felt fair, the shower was great, and the bed was the best I'd slept in during my month in Mexico.
