Casa Mayo

The staff were amazing, and I’d definitely return. The home itself is beautiful, in a safe, not-too-touristy part of Oaxaca that I really liked. You can walk to lots of restaurants farther up the hill.

The host was such a delight, from welcoming us in perfect English to taking care of our request for fragrance-free bedding and towels. They cooked delicious meals, hot chocolate included, and shared helpful tips for tourists. The building is lovely and sits in a quiet, safe neighborhood. Our rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated, with really comfortable beds. Everything was cleaned thoroughly each day, and someone was available around the clock. I can’t wait to return.

Shanny, the hostess, helped us in more ways than I could list. She suggested places to see and eat, arranged a wonderful taxi service, and there was coffee available 24/7, which I especially appreciated. The staff were accommodating and well trained. At Casa Mayo, even the little details felt carefully considered, from breakfast in the morning to a comfortable bed at night. I’ve stayed at many B&Bs, and none came close. I’d give it ten stars if I could. If you’re going to Oaxaca, stay here for a great visit.

Casa Mayo felt like home as soon as I arrived, and I’m so glad I booked it. The calm atmosphere is something special. Sheny, the owner, was so kind and helpful with arranging taxis and tours. Even the bedsheets were high quality, and breakfast was generous. I can’t wait to come back. Ten out of ten.
