HOLT's Hotel De Mi Independencia

The room felt a little tight, though that was probably because I was sharing it with my wife and four-year-old son. We had a fantastic family stay at HOLT. The staff were amazing, breakfast was always delicious, and the location was ideal.

For the price, I’d give it 4/5. It seemed a little overpriced for what we got, though our stay was in the lead-up to Dia de los Muertos. The six-room hotel is cute and in a nice, central neighborhood. All the rooms face inward and were quieter than expected, although ours was next to a loud water heater. Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and breakfast were exceptional. The rooms and bathrooms are on the small side. The property felt secure, with staff at the door at night and locked luggage storage for arrival and departure days. Later in the day there weren’t service staff on site, which could be frustrating if we wanted room service or recommendations, but they responded quickly online.

The location made it easy to walk to the sights, restaurants, and cafes, and we felt safe and cozy there at all hours. The hotel was also lovely to spend time in, with a beautiful courtyard for a book and coffee, fantastic architecture, and very clean, roomy bedrooms and bathroom. Breakfast each morning was a delight, and the staff were always around and very attentive. Our arrival was delayed, but they handled the late check-in wonderfully. They’d sent detailed arrival instructions beforehand through the app and were always reachable by phone. My family and I stayed five days for a trip and wedding, and really loved our time there.

The hotel itself was beautiful and clean, and we had an amazing stay. The staff were friendly and attentive.
