The drinks were some of my favorites from the whole trip, and the team was friendly. The hotel looks very cool, with concrete, wood, and an attractive pool area. But the pool sits beside one of Oaxaca's busier roads, with diesel Binnibuses constantly passing. Between the noise, exhaust, and dust, I couldn't stay there more than an hour or two. It looks pretty, but it wasn't a relaxing break from the city. The rooftop terrace bar must get that road noise too. If you want a peaceful pool while visiting Oaxaca de Juarez, I wouldn't recommend it. The location just doesn't work for that. The rooms have pleasing concrete and wood finishes, though they're a little dark. There's no bathroom fan, so the whole room can get humid after a shower. As of January of 2026, the neighboring lot was under construction. It was too noisy and dusty to leave our terrace door open, and construction started loudly around 7:30am on both mornings we woke up there. The road might still be an issue even once the work is finished. When we returned from dinner on our first night, we found three smallish cockroaches in the room and dealt with them ourselves. I know bugs happen in a tropical place, but we hadn't seen any at our other two, less expensive hotels in Oaxaca de Juarez. This may matter more to some people than others, and I saw another review mention it too. For me, despite the lovely drinks and friendly team, it wasn't worth the price compared with our stays at the other hotels in this beautiful city.

The staff we met were delightful, especially the young man serving breakfast, the evening cocktail server, and the doormen, who were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. We also liked the relaxed, unpretentious feel of the attractive common areas, which were nice places to hang out. Our room was comfortable, with high-quality bed and bath linens and good bathroom amenities. Breakfast was a good continental spread, with fresh juices, fruit, cold meats and cheeses, and lovely baked goods. A couple of things could be better. The bathroom lighting was poor, and would be quite unsuitable for someone who likes to apply a lot of makeup. I also wished room 12 had been a little bigger. It had a small balcony, which was nice, but another 5-10 square meters would have made it perfect. The rooms aren't very soundproof, and traffic can be loud early in the morning. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Escondido in Oaxaca City. Recommended!

The service made our stay especially memorable. Everyone was kind and welcoming, and Sabino greeted us with a smile each day. Olin and Alan at the bar / restaurant looked after us wonderfully at dinner. The meal was delicious, one of the best we had on the trip. We stayed in room 10, a corner room with huge, clean windows and a balcony. Waking up to that beautiful city view each morning felt magical. The beds were super comfortable, and the property is stunning, from the finishes and planting to all the artisanal details. The sitting room is a perfect spot to read and unwind. There is some noise, as other reviewers have said, but Oaxaca is noisy everywhere, and it wasn't enough to disturb our stay. We're finishing up a wonderful visit here now, and are sad to leave in the morning. We'll definitely come back someday!

Aramara, the general manager, was so welcoming and helpful, and the service was outstanding. We had a wonderful time in Oaxaca, and this hotel was beautiful and peaceful. Breakfast was superb, with fresh-pressed juices and healthy, creative dishes made from very fresh produce.

We were charged extra for the coffees even though we were told they came with the “free breakfast,” and my partner got food poisoning from the fruit and breakfast. The room was dark and scruffy, and freezing at night. It's a walk to get anywhere, and I wouldn't recommend it.
