We’ve stayed here several times over the years and have also sent friends. The place is away from the city center, so you’ll need a taxi, but the atmosphere is more relaxed. It looks out over Oaxaca and has a great view and a big, refreshing pool. The kitchen staff make tasty food in their quaint comedor. The adobe rooms are simple, spacious, and cool in the heat.

The people at Villada were the best part for us. We were welcomed with real warmth, and Juliette went out of her way when my son got sick. She brought a doctor to our room, interpreted for us, and was genuinely kind. I hope we can return someday. We stayed eight nights and slept better than anywhere else on our travels over the past three weeks. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a hammock and a lovely garden. The dining room looks out toward majestic mountains, and coffee always came with a smile. I especially recommend the Mexican breakfast omelette, it was delicious.

A really friendly, family-run hostel where I felt completely safe, and the local people were helpful and welcoming. They prepare traditional Mexican dishes on site, and it’s easy to get to the city center by taxi, with things to see and do within walking distance. I enjoyed meeting young travelers from Europe, Australia, and the US, lots of friendly people who like to chat. Everything was reasonably priced and affordable. It was a great way to get to know the culture, food, and everyday life in Mexico.

Getting up to the place is a challenge, so a lowered sports car might make the drive unpleasant. We liked it so much that we changed our plans and stayed an extra day. The place turned out even better than its already appealing pictures. It’s simple, relaxing, and different in a way that suited us. Sitting in the hammock with the breeze and the mountains over Oaxaca helped me recharge after a long week on the road. The hosts were kind and pleasant to talk with, helpful without hovering. Julietta speaks perfect English, and YaYa is a dignified, kind older lady with a beautiful smile. A great place.

QUIET AND SIMPLE! My first time in Oaxaca city, and a friend recommended these beautiful cabañas. I’m glad I came, the views of Oaxaca city were amazing. There’s a pool, and the staff are friendly and flexible. No TV, which is perfect for quality time. I’ll definitely come back.
