Casa Río Cuale

We were staying down the road when everything got crazy in Puerto Vallarta, and I contacted them through Airbnb. Even though we weren’t guests there, these kind people gave us food to get through the day while we were under orders to stay inside. They kept checking on us and helped us find updated information. When we’re back in PV, we hope to see them again, and maybe stay too 😊

We picked the Suite for the river view and extra space, and waking up to the Guacamayos calling was something special. The bed was really comfortable, and the sound of the river helped us drift off. It’s an apartment, so you can cook some meals there too. We had a great four-night stay at Casa Rio Cuale. The location worked perfectly for us since we had a car, but without one I might have felt a bit cut off. There aren’t many food options nearby, and the road isn’t very well lit. Some general cleaning could be improved, especially in the shower, and the lighting above the sinks could be better. If you want a break from Puerto Vallarta’s bustle, this is a good place to get away.

It got extremely hot at night sometimes because there’s no AC, and having no AC in May is tough, even though we chose the place knowing that. I also got locked out by the river once with a little baby, which wasn’t nice. Please check that nobody is sitting outside before closing that door next time. The owner is nice, it’s easy to catch a bus, and there’s a store downstairs. Mario was also very helpful in setting up a covid test for us.

The river runs right behind the place, with a pretty little sandy patch and a chair where you can sit and watch it or sunbathe. The rooms and deck were very clean, and the shared bathrooms were among the prettiest and cleanest I’ve ever seen. Everything is well looked after, and it feels safe. The people are really nice too. I’d definitely recommend it if you want to be out of town.
