I was walking down the lumpy cobblestone path from the mountain, and a young woman sitting on a wall offered foot reflexology after we mentioned how much the stones were hurting our feet. My cousin suggested we try it, then backed out, but I went ahead with the quick 15-minute session. I'm so glad I did. It was just what I needed to finish the walk, and I didn't want it to end. I would've stayed for a longer massage if I could. It was fantastic. I was there during the town carnival, but the fireworks and bands didn't bother me at all.

The room turned out to be huge once we got inside our lodge, even though from the outside it looked like a regular hotel or motel. My family and I had only come to walk around town and have a few drinks, but the city was so beautiful that we decided to stay overnight and explore at night. We just brought some beer and a bottle back to the lodge. It had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room with a large table that could seat about six. One room had two beds, one had a king-size bed, and the third had a queen-size bed and a single. The same day we walked around the city, we decided to stay. I'd love to return and spend a couple of nights, though around 3500 pesos felt pricey for just one night. I completely forgot to take pictures.

From the hotel, it's very easy to park close by for the Tepozteco hike, since the trail starts right there. Driving in is a challenge because you have to pass through the vendors, but the location, views, and proximity to everything are amazing. There are plenty of vendors just outside, and the hotel also has restaurant service.

I would avoid this place. Bungalows Andrea was built in an area with scarce water, with a pool and no consideration for the ecosystem or the cultural importance of the archaeological zone. The construction isn't even attractive, and the service is poor. Workers aren't paid well, either, and pollution in the area has increased alarmingly. That zone used to be an important spring where local wildlife depended on it to reproduce during the rainy season. It's also a historical landmark for the village. It's frustrating to watch the landscape change so quickly and the ecosystem degrade just as fast. Water shortages are serious. This place should be shut down.

The family bungalow was spacious and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. I found the place relaxing and comfortable, with a beautiful, peaceful atmosphere and very friendly, attentive staff. I had a good time and do recommend it. The pool isn't heated. Cold water doesn't bother me, but my companions struggled a bit. If you can't tolerate swimming in cold water, or a pool is a key part of choosing a place to stay, think twice. The location has its pros and cons. During the day there are lots of stalls nearby, and it's practically on the way up to Tepozteco. After 7 or 8 pm, though, there's not much around, and it's a bit far from the center. That could be an issue if you're walking, but probably not if you have a car. For the hotel, I'd suggest more evening food options, like coffee, bread, quesadillas, or something similar, since it's hard to find food downtown then. An area with something to do could be nice too, maybe foosball, billiards, ping-pong, or board games.
