You can walk to plenty of nearby restaurants, and downtown TJ is about four blocks away. The location is great. Just keep in mind that the bar downstairs has live music. I’d suggest a room on the third or fourth floor, since the noise could make it hard to sleep on the first or second.

The rooms are on the small side, but two people fit comfortably, and the price is good for what you get. It’s about a 25-minute walk to downtown, which I enjoyed as a bit of exercise. I booked through Expedia without any trouble, and Roberto, the hotelier, and the rest of the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. I saw reviews mentioning damage fees, but I didn’t have any trouble with that myself. Maybe some guests have a hard time taking responsibility. I had a positive stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for affordable lodging with attentive staff.

For the price, it was worth it. The room was tiny, with two full beds, a little storage space, a TV, a shower, and a restroom. We could hear music from the bar next door. They mentioned a buffet, but I didn’t see one, so we ordered regular food from the restaurant.

The decor has a contemporary feel, and everything was very clean. Staff were helpful, and the soap, lotion, and conditioner they provided were great, really moisturizing. Our room smelled a little like the previous guest had smoked, though, and the live band next door made it quite loud. It also took around 5-10 minutes for the shower water to get hot, or you could end up with a cold shower.
