Hostal Tres Central

Staff were helpful and friendly, and it was clean, close to things and great value. There’s live music upstairs, usually until midnight, and some sound carries into the rooms. The bed was a bit hard, but otherwise we had a great stay.

For this town, where there aren’t many hostels, this is the best one. The Wi-Fi is good, the beds are comfy, and the AC runs from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. There’s no breakfast included, but coffee is free. Right next door is a restaurant with very affordable breakfast and healthy drinks. The rooftop restaurant opens in the morning, closes for a while, then opens again in the evening, with a great view. I’d definitely stay here again if I needed to.

After 15 hours in transit from Guatemala, I got bumped from my flight at the last minute and arrived at 11 p.m. The staff saved me by finding an available dorm bed. It’s a clean, comfortable place and amazing value for the price. I was in the four-bed women’s dorm, and the beds were super comfy. There’s a sink and shower in the room, with great hot water pressure, but the toilet is out in the hall. They have a beautiful upstairs terrace and coffee in the morning. A lovely place to stay if you find yourself in Tuxtla.

The staff are ready to help, and the place is in a great spot, only two blocks from the main plaza. It gets noisy during public events. The rooms and toilet are very clean, with comfortable beds and individual lights and plugs. Each room has its own shower, while the toilet is outside the room. There’s a kitchenette available from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; in the evening that area becomes a bar and restaurant. Free drinking water and good Wi-Fi signal. This is basically a hotel that happens to have dorms.
